Brand Marketing

Brand Marketing

IMG_3852.jpg You know that feeling at the beginning of a relationship when your significant other sends you pictures (whether it’s fine or it’s not fine) and you’ll reply with comments like, “Oh my God, babe, you look so nice,” “I am so blessed to have you,” “I love you,” “My goofball”. All those kinds of things.

IMG_3854.jpg Then as the relationship advances comments like “my phone storage is not for the two of us,” “why is your face like that in that picture?” We suddenly become petty. That’s what the relationship with Drey is like now. We have passed the crying blood phase whenever he sends the week’s project because see finish has entered - Relationship growth or breakfast?

IMG_3856.jpg So, welcome to week 5 of our boot camp experience. This week was fun because there was a small drama inside. Two people decided to cut each other’s throat. No, it wasn’t Ebube and Jumoke, but Ebube was involved. Before we delve into the main thing, the ghost workers on this team are the best; their consistency is top-notch. I know they all have different things going on for them, but so do the rest of us. A little compromise can’t hurt anybody.

IMG_3855.jpg Drey decided to have his little shenanigans moment. I almost fell for it then I remembered “it’s Drey.” He practically breathes trouble. He had people yearning and desperately asking for a break knowing fully well that he won’t give us any.

DAY 1

IMG_3847.jpeg We had the usual routine: project arrival then 5pm virtual meeting. Remember that drama I talked about earlier, it all happened on this day (I like vawulence). The meeting was all about brand selection and creating either an Omnisend or Sendinblue account for our email marketing. We created a Sendinblue account which was handled by Kamdi. Everyone had to suggest brands that we are to work with. Small brand selection, Kamdi and Ebube turned Google meet to WWE ring. The argument was about a brand Ebube suggested; Ebube made a statement concerning the brand then Kamdi went off, Ebube followed suit. While the two were at it, other members in the meeting were mute and left the two to it. At the end of it all, it was just miscommunication, and the brand that caused the argument wasn’t selected. Kamdi asked everyone to make a brand selection from the ones suggested (Hidirose, Charisma and others that I can’t remember) in the comment section and we all settled for Hidirose (a skincare brand suggested by Seyi).

This conclusion meant we were all to do our research on Hidirose.

DAY 2

Most of the meeting was spent deciding the brand positioning. Let me rephrase that, we spent ALL of the meeting trying to make a decision. We all had different ideas, they were either funny, silly or complex suggestions. We also had nice suggestions too. After spending over an hour without a conclusion, Kamdi instructed that everyone should think about it and send in their suggestions before the end of the next meeting, and the meeting was adjourned to the next day. Jumoke was assigned the responsibility of handling the Sendinblue account.

DAY 3

Before the meeting hour, we had 4 options for our brand positioning:

  • Beautiful skin is the best weapon.
  • Skin is the bond binding beauty and beholder.
  • The best makeup is healthy skin.
  • Your skin is a gem.

We were also asked to create buyer personas and have them sent to Kamdi.
At the meeting, we agreed to use “Your skin is a Gem” as brand positioning. We started working on our presentation slides and chose to use any shade of pink as our background color for the slides, because it was one of the colors used by Hidirose. Ebube volunteered to get the right color theme for the slides, while Kamdi was to continue adding the necessary information to the presentation.

DAY 4 to 5.

We continued working on our presentation slides and contacted Drey to know if we are meant to create the contents ourselves; which unfortunately, we were meant to. This meant we were completely lagging behind on our project work and needed to be done as soon as possible to meet the deadline. Kamdi shared the work amongst us, each work was handled by two people.

DAY 6 to 7

These days were spent dotting our Is and crossing our Ts, to avoid and correct any mistakes. We all began counting down to the end of our boot camp journey. We don’t know whether to be excited or…

We may not be perfect, but we are definitely growing.
